William F Dougherty - The Glass in the Glass

William F Dougherty - The Glass in the Glass

Mocked by a carnival mirror, br a contortion cruel as doubt, br I wrecked the woozy image: br a snicker clinked out. br br Mirrors on other walls br published the same burlesque face: br mirrors round, oval, and square br crackled in place. br br I cached the winks of glass, br some sleight-of-self to reclaim, br but the kaleidoscope of shards br configured the same br br punished reflections my eyes br reflectively defined— br glass that mirrored a face br that mirrored a mind.
