Irene C S ClarkHogg - Lovers ... The

By the north harbour wall, br The lovers met and embraced. br For a few precious hours they were free, br So they dined on fresh prawns br And drank sparkling white wine; br Breathed the salt laden mist from the sea. br br br br Then, they walked hand in hand br On a shingle strewn beach, br In the light of a silver clad moon. br They made love in the dunes, br As the towns people slept, br But dawn’s fingers of light came too soon. br br br br It was time to depart, br One year till their return. br Many tears on her golden cheeks shone, br As they entered the surf, br Then both swam out to sea. br With a flick of their tails they were gone.
