Sandra Martyres - Seashore

Sandra Martyres - Seashore

Sitting alone at twilight br On the waters edge br Watching the waves br Lash the shore br And slowly recede br Each water crest br Brings back memories br From the past br I recall my school days br When I’d rush back br Just to scour the beach br For unusual coloured shells br A beautiful collection I had br Then came my College days br When we argued in groups br Sitting on the shore br About the advantages of br Socialism versus Capitalism br Whether Keynesian Economics br Had lost its relevance etc. br I was soon into my first job br Total commitment meant br No time to waste on the seashore. br A couple of years later I met br The man I meant to select br As my life partner br And was back again at the seashore br Spending long evenings br Hand in hand talking animatedly br Of a bright and happy future together br But alas that was not to be br We were forced to part br And went our separate ways br I stopped visiting the seashore br For many years thereafter br I did not want to remember br What I wanted to forget br But today I feel differently br The hurt and the pain br Has lessened with time br I can sit in peace br Reminisce about the past br Enjoy the cool breeze and br The rhythm of waves lashing the shore br Alone….
