Lillian Susan Thomas - *Learning from Wildflowers

Goldenrod is bursting with brimming emotion - br A flower pod exploding with pollen - br Its gold dust once flung windward br Is left to water and passer-by br To find homes on waiting stamens. br br Watching passively but tense br To see where these glimmers fall - br Into what cup of petals they are caught, br In the depths of which bowls do they settle - br Flowers are content br With the fate of pollen br After it has been sent, br Knowing better than to pour br Longings into a chosen vessel br That will only break and spill hopes.
