A TRIBUTE TO ALAN DALE br Prince Of Baritones br (1925 – 2002) br br Long, long, ago, as the story goes, br A cherry tree had grown next to an br apple tree! br And underneath them a boy had met br his bride to be! br As he looked into her blue eyes, the br breeze began to blow, br And blossoms fell on their heads gently br so! br And as he held her tight, the branches of br both the trees got intertwined! br And ever since then it has been said, br On a full moon night, when young lovers br meet, br Under that Cherry and Apple blossom tree, br One can hear Alan Dale the crooner’s voice, br singing, “ Cherry pink and apple blossom br white”, - br Echoing through the moonlight night! br -Raj Nandy br 19 Aug 09 br br *Alan Dale, the Prince of Baritone of the br 1950s, became popular for two of his all time br hits of 1955; ‘Sweet and Gentle’ and br ‘Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White’! br The last three lines of his famous song, has br been modified by me as way of a compliment! br Born in Brooklyn, NY, his parents had migrated br from Italy.
