When all else fails br The Economists look to br The alphabets for inspiration br Will the economic recovery be V shaped? br Yes indeed, say the very optimistic br With the stimulus package br There is only one way br That world economy can go and it is up br Not really, say the less convinced br It will probably be U shaped br The down-turn will stay for sometime br Before it slowly climbs up once more br Then come the zigzag theorists br The shape is more likely to be a W they cry br The economy having gone down br Will first go up and then down again br Before moving up with more confidence br Last but not least, are the die-hard pessimists br They believe that the mother of all depressions br Will not end in a hurry and have forecast an L shape br Meaning that, having gone down br The economy will stabilise at the current bottom br Given that the theories have so far br Centred around only four br Of the twenty-six alphabets br There is still plenty of scope for further br Alphabetic inspiration.
