Rajaram Ramachandran - #(Buddha) 37 Buddha's Message to Devadatta

Buddha wanted peace. br He sent two disciples br To Devadatta’s place br To settle any difference. br br His message was the truth br At any cost, was worth br More than deceit and lies, br As truth ended in success. br br Devadatta said, “The two disciples. br Of Buddha are coming close br To hear my special lectures, br Better than what Buddha gives.” br br When they came near, br He told them, “Look hear, br I want rest for sometime br You take the class this time.” br br He slept like a wood then. br The two spoke on compassion br What was Buddha made of, br How he cared for other’s life. br br All the assembled people br Felt that Buddha was real br And Devadatta, a fraud br Cheating the whole crowd. br br They got up and walked out. br To hear Buddha, they went. br When Devadatta woke up br There was none to speak up. br br He burst into anger, br That became a danger, br As he coughed up blood, br And on that spot, he died. br br Buddha represented the truth. br And Devadatta, the untruth. br Finally truth won over untruth, br In the battle of truth-vs-untruth.
