I write because I have to - Backstabbers: Poetic Vengeance

Apparent to none. Transparent to some. br Thin like the skin of those who pose as friends to begin br but end like chameleons br when they sway in the wind br changing colors within. br Under the guise of true lies they pull wool over your eyes br and its never really clear how near br or far they plan to stand br there hand in hand br and walk and hear you talk br all to stalk and strike with spite when the time is right. br Claiming alliance and feigning compliance br snaring at you while wearing costumes, br dressed to impress with intent to consume. br Leading you down the path of doom br and they're only content when you're lamenting your gloom. br Beguiling smiles meant to mask empty words, br empty slurs on forked tongues, br poisoned verbs are the preferred weapon of choice br of a venomous voice. br And their disarming swagger conceals their daggers br waiting until your back is turned to stab you with their lies that burn br Try to discern their false concern br from the fact that they lack the nack to say what they mean br in the midst of the mist, their true colors are clear like flat screens br because their actions are just distractions and reactions intentional br and they use deceit to appear sweet when they're really one dimensional br masters of fiction, their addiction is contradiction br flipping pages in your face, br going through their inventory of stories br all for the glory of bringing you down and claiming your disgrace br The closest in your entourage could be wearing camouflage br But how do you tell your foes from your friends anyway? br only time will tell... br but I'd rather take shot in chest from a foe than a knife in the back from my best friend any day.
