John Knight - Blackberries ripe for the picking

John Knight - Blackberries ripe for the picking

Looking through the thousands fo poems on the PH list I felt there was something lacking. Modern poems that where quintisentailly English! What could be more English that Blackberrying in late Summer. So here is a poem on just that exercise! br br Take your time as the blackberries you pick, br Be careful not to damage friut or bush. br Warn the children NOT the RED or GREEN ones br Take time when you are picking do not rush! br br Take your time when you seek out the big ones br Move aside the thistledown with careful care, br Don't tread on the Rose Bay Willow Herb br And the other sweet wild flowers growing there. br br Take your time as you approach the brambles br Walk up the track of mud - where late wild flowers bud br Take care to close each gate as you pass through br Observe that natures providence is good! br br Take the time to observe all the inects br Lady birds and dragon flies with jewelled eyes that shine.
