Lonnie Hicks - A You Who

Lonnie Hicks - A You Who

If there is a little man br that lives on my shoulder br and tells me 'no' when br I am tempted, br then why sometimes br I don't hear from him br when I need him most? br br If there is a angel bright br who leads me at all times br to the light br then pray tell br how did I end up here br in the dark? br br If I am the observer of all this br then why do I not convene on this br a conference between the two? br And lets include the Devil too br for he surely has a role here too. br br br At the conference I say: br 'Now listen angel and little man br what is going on here? br What good are guardians who br go AWOL br at precisely the wrong times? br What guide is this who abandons br the trail when danger looms? ' br br The angel said in her defense br said, 'I do speak out but you br close your ears br I yell, I scream, but to no avail. br Hoarse, I give up thinking the little man will take over.' br br The little man said 'I am thinking the same thing br except in reverse.' br br The Devil lounged in the back ground and said nothing br until I accosted him and asked 'What is your story? ' br He stirred slowly, saying 'Story I have none, but I will br comment upon the obvious truth here. br br You are part them and you are part me. br And each time you hear those voices br mine and theirs br it is you my friend that is making that choice br don't foist it off on them and me. br br 'I' I said outraged. 'I am the cause of all this? br 'Yes they all said. 'Because in fact, you are the only one in the room.' br br We are just people you made up to remind yourself that you are you.
