Ramakrishna saw other religions, br As different spiritual paths, br But they all spoke of one God, br By various names of the Lord. br br At one stage, he did consider, br His wife also as a Divine Mother, br That was an extreme step to treat br Any woman as goddess incarnate. br br He found a Universal Religion, br With an acceptable doctrine, br That he gave it as a total solution br For any religious confrontation. br br Those who took him mad, br Later on, they worshiped br This man as a great saint, br Not as an ordinary priest. br br He invited more youngsters br For all humanitarian services br And devotional ones as well. br Many responded to his call. br br One such young man was br Narendra, the gracious, br Who went there to meet br And surrender at his feet. br br At first, Narendra sang, br Before the Saint a song, br That was a binding force br Between those two hearts. br br The Saint embraced him br And remarked at him, br “I know you’ll come br To meet me this time.” br br “Have you ever seen God? br Once, like this Narendra asked. br The saint smilingly replied, br “Yes, I’ve seen God.” br br Narendra fainted at once, br When the Saint, in trance, br Just stroked his chest br A divine vision to create. br br Narendra had a glimpse br Of his life, both previous br As well as present one, br As a strange inner vision. br br Thereafter, they came closer br In contacts with each other br And became inseparable br As Master and disciple.
