Deana Rode - (2009) In Memorandum of Myself

Here lies the shell of who I used to be; br shattered remains of the girl with bright eyes br and a brighter heart br br She was a dancer of the clouds, my old self; br aspirations that could fill galaxies br hopes that could ignite the sun br dreams as vast as the stars br br Such Innocence she had, that I wish were true; br beliefs in Happy Endings and good people br Faith that the world was really filled with icing and kindness br an unwavering commitment to that foreign language of Hope br br I watched helplessly as Life tore her apart br ripped her body to shreds with each heartbreak, br unable to save her br because I'd forgotten what it was like to care br br I'm placing white roses on your grave, my sweet friend br and armies of Angels around your tomb; br They will keep watch over you br keep you safe from now on br br Your memories I have burned inside me br to remind me of what you had to endure br so that I can harden my soul br and make it through this barren wasteland br br I will protect you from the men who wish to unearth you; br the ones who wish to resurrect you br with sweet words and empty promises br only to murder you again... br br You always were so easy to demolish br br Fear not anymore, my lost companion. br br You are free now from this harrowing world; br free to create your own reality in the universe above us br and dance for infinity without sorrow or tears br br I am what remains of us; br a Zombie with a hole in her chest br No longer willing to feel or show Love; br Damned to being nothing but the living memory br of your missing embrace.
