Ann Beard - Far away

Ann Beard - Far away

Away from piercing prying eyes br of being good, of sounding wise. br Loose grains of sand glide aimlessly br as though to lightly bury me. br br The sun forbids a candid stare, br instead persuades to look elsewhere. br To rest upon bright lights that glimmer, br glittering on every swimmer. br br Eager shadows reach to trace, br massage and cream my sun kissed face. br White satin lips show yellow throats, collectively br the Frangipani fragrance hovers free. br br While far away words, ordinary, br working day and cautionary, br neatly rest upon a desk at home. br Alongside bulky keys and business phone. br br A crimson sky ends my first day, br tide’s race to smooth where I had lay. br And sleep arrives with fickle dreams br of love, romance, erotic screams. br br Its all so perfect so unreal, br the chuckle in a teenage squeal. br And yet beneath the pleasantness, br there is one urge I must confess. br br One secret yearning to confide, br I would prefer you by my side.
