Lonnie Hicks - Grief Abidding

It was that br Grief seldom had enough of her; br it took more than its due br leaving her often times over-filled with br dried up tears br in too many places. br br Grief took her first child br and she weathered this. br br Born in the breast of poverty br she endured nonetheless; br br Wombed out in the wrong family br a stranger among them born, br she endured br til the road took her out and away br to college realms; br there br pounded by experience to Tragedy br until her heart came to be iron cast; br a thing which drank br bitter dregs br and cold gruel br her daily faire. br br But all this br did not wreck her soul br which survived in the deepest depths br and broke with a mighty wave br one day to drown Grief's dingy br leaving her space to land her ship br on better shores- br Anvil forged. br br She emerged br appreciative of everything br in this world; br thanking in the end br Grief br for placing the edge br on her br capacity to love, br which then emerged br under-girded br by Soul Force br which overcomes br all things.
