Patti Masterman - Anti-Love Poem #1

Patti Masterman - Anti-Love Poem #1

When you've loved someone, br As much as you're capable of, br Just let them go. Even better, br Don't write about them- ever. br If you must, let it be once only br And let that be as their epitaph. br Let the seasons and the wind br Sweep away the painful memories br Don't try to re-start fire from a faded puff of smoke. br And give yourself some time to recover. br br If you must write thousands of lines br About what went wrong, or why, br For gods sake burn it- burn it quickly br Don't leave it lying around for others eyes to see br And for the dance line to start forming behind you: br The Designated Mourners of decayed, extinct love affairs br Don't forget to leave some room for the next good thing br Which has been waiting patiently at your door br While you've been existing only in the past br As a one-dimensional loser. br Remember, there's only a one letter difference.
