Fay Slimm - Evening Spread.

Fay Slimm - Evening Spread.

Settling mysterious into the late afternoon, br Phoebus hazily parts early twilight's face br And pushes herself roundly between clouds, br Beats the moon with mellow light and outpaces br The dying day by creating a dim misty gloaming. br br Venturing forth, four legged canine bounds ahead br And we follow more slowly, both loath to leave home br Yet wanting to taste this fine moist evening spread. br br As empty beach beckons we welcome the link br Between daylight and dark, greet the first star br And bid goodbye to the blue, as old Sol sinks. br br Then turning for hearth and home, see parting br Day take a last bow, and leave a pale promise br Of milder tomorrow, half-light now obscuring br Any more sun, day is done, dies and as it kisses br Goodbye the moon silvers both sea and moors. br br The glory of evening installed, now inspired we br Leave the scene and set off to fireside and tea.
