Gertrude Joy - DEAREST MAMMIE R.I.P, by Gertrude Condron, nee Joy

The moon will rise tonight behind Moondeega, br It’s light will shine upon our mother’s grave, br It will drift across the valley to our homestead, br Where its our lonely father, sad but brave. br br I can see him sitting there his heart is broken, br And his eyes are filled with tears, br Which do not fall, br All her children loved our darling mother dearly br It was he who proved he loved her most of all. br br When our father says the rosary by the fireside, br And our brother by his bedside, kneels to pray, br All her daughters say their prayers across the oceans, br Each ones thoughts on Owning graveyard far away. br br Sixty years ago our parents wed each other, br In that church where now she sleeps beside its door, br May god rest in peace the soul of our dear mother br Till we meet again beyond that golden shore.
