James Wright - An Old Friend

James Wright - An Old Friend

An Old Friend br br I rarely write words that have meaning br But lately my soul has been beaming br br It was a very short time ago br I recieved news that made my blood flow br br A friend from far back in my past br Had come to surface long at last br br Her face was as it was then br Her hair, eyes, nose, and even chin br br It made me realize what I had lost br Finally our paths had once again crossed br br She meant the world to me when we parted br And now our friendship had been restarted br br Young love was in the starting phase br But that love was back in those past days br br Our friendship had never completely died br But for me childhood love was still inside br br Though we've grown and both now married br The feelings I harbor I have always carried br br Nothing will ever change our two lives course br I know it was set by an almighty force br br Ultimately God himself will always show br What we should do and the path that we go br br But I cannot deny I have at times aspired br To have the love my childhood desired br br But I know that is simply out of the question br And would be met by even my own objection br br So if I had a chance to see her again br I would hug her tightly and remember then br br Remember the wonderful times that we had br The good, the indifferent, the joy and the sad br br Hopefully when old and weary I will always recall br The girl who gave me the best friendship of them allbr br James Wrightbr br
