' br br Rotted rubber br still clinging to the wheels br br like flesh br leaving bone br br protected by gangs br of highly strung nettles br br ravished by weeds br & overgrown trees br br me & some newly laid eggs br jostled together in the passenger seat br br a cockerel crowing br he has all the back seat br br the windshield br flecked with years br br of flattened flies br a multitude of squashed bugs br br as we speed br into the past br br meeting my own ghost br with tears in my eyes.
