Rani Turton - Grief

Rani Turton - Grief

Grief, don't stand near my bed tonight br I've had enough and more than I can bear br Last night was the worst: I could feel you br Watching me whilst silently standing there. br br Now tell me, grief, are you friend or foe? br What is it about me that attracts you so? br Is it for my beauty, my wit or my fragility br That you stand there clothed in such simplicity? br br You knew that yesterday was a hard day. br I had a certain difficult role to play; br Grief, as I suddenly felt you in my room br Ah! I actually felt the weight of your gloom. br br Now I know that you are more than a presence; br I even think you sense my absence; br I almost think I'll wait for you tonight: br Grief, please do step into sight.
