John Le Gay Brereton - The Liner

John Le Gay Brereton - The Liner

The foamy waves are swishing br As patiently we thud, br But O the wave of wishing br That surges in my blood! br br Along the ocean's rim, now, br With never-ceasing song, br I wish that I could swim now br And shove the boat along. br br My heart is crying, tireless, br The word it has to say. br What need have we of wireless br Who know a better way? br br The slow craft plunges nor'ward br And welters on the blue: br My thoughts are floating forward br And swooping home to you. br br Your magic love is tingling br In every vein of me, br And you and I are mingling br In spite of rolling sea. br br Yet O that I could borrow br That albatross's flight! br To-morrow, Love, to-morrow br Is our supreme delight.
