Pablo Neruda - The Fear

Pablo Neruda - The Fear

They all ask me to jump br to invigorate and to play soccer, br to run, to swim and to fly. br Very well. br br They all advise me rest, br they all send me to the doctor, br looking at me a certain way. br What happens? br br They all advise me to travel, br to come and to leave, to stay, br to die and not to die. br It does not matter. br br They all see the difficulties br of my surprised bowels br by awful X-rayed portraits. br I do not agree. br br They all sting my poetry br with relentless forks br seeking, without doubt, a fly, br I Am afraid. br br I am afraid of everyone, br of the cold water, of the death. br I am like all the mortals, br unavoidable. br br And for that, in these short days br I am not going to pay attention to them, br I am going to open myself up and shut myself in br with my more perfidious enemy, br Pablo Neruda.
