Juan Caballero - *650 THE GREATNESS OF GOD

Juan Caballero - *650 THE GREATNESS OF GOD

This is my personal interpretation of the Swedish Poem 'O STORE GUD' (1886) . It was translated into German 'DU GROSSER GOTT' (1907) and Russian 'VELIKLY BOG' (1912) . The first version in English 'O MIGHTY GOD' (1925) was made by an American - E Gustav Johnson. br br O Mighty God - when I observe the wonder br Of nature's wealth created by your power, br I see the clouds - the lightning and the thunder br Ensuing storm and sweet refreshing shower. br br Then sings my soul - O Mighty God to you br How great you are - how great you are br Susutaining everything in view br How great you are - how great you are. br br When I observe the vastness of your Universe br The countless stars that fill the evening sky br Where Sun and Moon keep watch upon the fastness br Of changing seasons - as the days go by. br br When through deep woods and forest paths I wander br And hear the birds all singing in the trees br I stand in awe of lofty mountain grandeur br With rushing falls and lakes of tranquil ease. br br The Scriptures tell the record of your Blessing br So freely given to all the human race br Your constant Mercy - every need addressing br Redeeming guilt and weakness by your Grace. br br And when at last - the mists of time have vanished br You will reveal what now we dimly see br Through Heaven's gates - where earthly ills are banished br We'll enter Lord for all eternity. br br And we will sing - O Might God to you br How great you are - how great you are br When all of Heaven's Glory comes in view br How great you are - how great you are.
