Rabindranath Tagore - Stray Birds 41 - 50

Rabindranath Tagore - Stray Birds 41 - 50

41 br br THE trees, br like the longings of the earth, br stand a-tiptoe to peep at the heaven. br br 42 br br YOU smiled and talked to me of nothing br and I felt that for this I had been waiting long. br br 43 br br THE fish in the water is silent, br the animal on the earth is noisy, br the bird in the air is singing, br But Man has in him br the silence of the sea, br the noise of the earth br and the music of the air. br br 44 br br THE world rushes on br over the strings of the lingering heart br making the music of sadness. br br 45 br br HE has made his weapons his gods. br When his weapons win he is defeated himself. br br 46 br br GOD finds himself by creating. br br 47 br br SHADOW, br with her veil drawn, br follows Light in secret meekness, br with her silent steps of br love. br br 48 br br THE stars br br are not afraid to appear like fireflies. br br 49 br br I THANK thee that I am none of the wheels of power br but I am one with the living creatures br that are crushed by it. br br 50 br br THE mind, br sharp but not broad, br sticks at every point br but does not move.
