George Gordon Byron - I Saw Thee Weep

George Gordon Byron - I Saw Thee Weep

I saw thee weep--the big bright tear br Came o'er that eye of blue; br And then methought it did appear br A violet dropping dew: br I saw thee smile--the sapphire's blaze br Beside thee ceased to shine; br It could not match the living rays br That filled that glance of thine. br As clouds from yonder sun receive br A deep and mellow dye, br Which scarce the shade of coming eve br Can banish from the sky, br Those smiles unto the moodiest mind br Their own pure joy impart; br Their sunshine leaves a glow behind br That lightens o'er the heart.
