Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi - Ode 1957: An intellectual

Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi - Ode 1957: An intellectual

An intellectual is all the time showing off. br br Lovers dissolve and become bewildered. br br Intellectuals try not to drown, br while the whole purpose of loves br is drowning. br br Intellectual invent br ways to rest, and then lie down~ br in those beds. br br Lovers feel ashamed br of comforting ideas. br br You’ve seen a glob br of oil on water? That’s how a lover br sits with intellectuals, there, but alone br in a circle of himself. br br Some intellectual br tries to give sound advice to a lover. br br All he hears back is, I love you. br br I love you. br br Love is musk. Don’t deny it br when you smell the scent! br br Love is a tree. br br Lovers, the shade of the long branches. br br To the intellectual mind, a child must learn br to grow up and be adult. br br In the station of love, br you see old men getting younger and younger. br br Shams chose to live low in the roots br for you.
