Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - By The Seaside : Twilight

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - By The Seaside : Twilight

The twilight is sad and cloudy, br The wind blows wild and free, br And like the wings of sea-birds br Flash the white caps of the sea. br br But in the fisherman's cottage br There shines a ruddier light, br And a little face at the window br Peers out into the night. br br Close, close it is pressed to the window, br As if those childish eyes br Were looking into the darkness, br To see some form arise. br br And a woman's waving shadow br Is passing to and fro, br Now rising to the ceiling, br Now bowing and bending low.
