John Crowe Ransom - Worship

I know a quite religious man br Who utters praises when he can. br br br Now I find God in bard and book, br In school and temple, bird and brook. br br br But he says God is sweetest of all br Discovered in a drinking-hall. br br br For God requires no costly wine br But comes on the foam of a crockery stein. br br br And when that foam is on the lips, br Begin then God's good fellowships. br br br Cathedrals, synagogues, and kirks br May go to the devil, and all their works. br br br And as for Christian charity, br It's made out of hilarity. br br br He gives the beggar all his dimes, br Forgives his brother seven times. br br br 'I love the rain,' says thirsty clod; br So this religious man of God.
