William Wordsworth - To Lady Beaumont

William Wordsworth - To Lady Beaumont

LADY! the songs of Spring were in the grove br While I was shaping beds for winter flowers; br While I was planting green unfading bowers, br And shrubs--to hang upon the warm alcove, br And sheltering wall; and still, as Fancy wove br The dream, to time and nature's blended powers br I gave this paradise for winter hours, br A labyrinth, Lady! which your feet shall rove. br Yes! when the sun of life more feebly shines, br Becoming thoughts, I trust, of solemn gloom br Or of high gladness you shall hither bring; br And these perennial bowers and murmuring pines br Be gracious as the music and the bloom br And all the mighty ravishment of spring.
