William Wordsworth - Louisa: After Accompanying Her On A Mountain Excursion

William Wordsworth - Louisa: After Accompanying Her On A Mountain Excursion

I MET Louisa in the shade, br And, having seen that lovely Maid, br Why should I fear to say br That, nymph-like, she is fleet and strong, br And down the rocks can leap along br Like rivulets in May? br br She loves her fire, her cottage-home; br Yet o'er the moorland will she roam br In weather rough and bleak; br And, when against the wind she strains, br Oh! might I kiss the mountain rains br That sparkle on her cheek. br br Take all that's mine 'beneath the moon,' br If I with her but half a noon br May sit beneath the walls br Of some old cave, or mossy nook, br When up she winds along the brook br To hunt the waterfalls.
