Leon Gellert - Rapine

Leon Gellert - Rapine

She came from some still mossiness br Of quiet ways; and stood with modest hands; br A warmth of body in a shy distress; br A white shell on the sands. br A slender shell she seemed; br And he, the sea br That rose and gathered, beat and dreamed br And longed so restlessly. br She saw him not this imminent, nor moved br Nor spoke. The hot sea swept; br And smothering her fears br It loosed and loved br And left her as she wept, br Wet with his clasp, and wet with all her tears.
