John Greenleaf Whittier - Kinsman

John Greenleaf Whittier - Kinsman

Where ceaseless Spring her garland twines, br As sweetly shall the loved one rest, br As if beneath the whispering pines br And maple shadows of the West. br br Ye mourn, O hearts of home! for him, br But, haply, mourn ye not alone; br For him shall far-off eyes be dim, br And pity speak in tongues unknown. br br There needs no graven line to give br The story of his blameless youth; br All hearts shall throb intuitive, br And nature guess the simple truth. br br The very meaning of his name br Shall many a tender tribute win; br The stranger own his sacred claim, br And all the world shall be his kin.
