Louisa May Alcott - A Song From The Suds

Louisa May Alcott - A Song From The Suds

Queen of my tub, I merrily sing, br While the white foam raises high, br And sturdily wash, and rinse, and wring, br And fasten the clothes to dry; br Then out in the free fresh air they swing, br Under the sunny sky. br br I wish we could wash from our hearts and our souls br The stains of the week away, br And let water and air by their magic make br Ourselves as pure as they; br Then on the earth there would be indeed br A glorious washing day! br br Along the path of a useful life br Will heart's-ease ever bloom; br The busy mind has no time to think br Of sorrow, or care, or gloom; br And anxious thoughts may be swept away br As we busily wield a broom.
