Anonymous Olde English - Lusty May

O LUSTY May, with Flora queen! br The balmy dropis from Phoebus sheen br Preluciand beams before the day: br By that Diana growis green br Through gladness of this lusty May. br br Then Esperus, that is so bricht, br Til woful hairtis castis his light, br With bankis that bloomis on every brae; br And schouris are shed forth of their sicht br Through gladness of this lusty May. br br Birdis on bewis of every birth, br Rejoicing notis makand their mirth br Richt plesantly upon the spray, br With flourishingis o'er field and firth br Through gladness of this lusty May. br br All luvaris that are in care br To their ladies they do repair br In fresh morningis before the day, br And are in mirth ay mair and mair br Through gladness of this lusty May.
