William Henry Ogilvie - The Music of the Chase

William Henry Ogilvie - The Music of the Chase

I don't know any tune from any other, br I couldn't sing a song if I were paid, br I couldn't for the ransom of a brother, br Hum a single thing that anybody played. br But I know one melody br That can stir the heart of me- br It's the mad and merry challenge of the horn ! br With the chime of hounds that follow, br And the cheer and rate and holloa br That can shake the very dewdrops from the thorn! br I couldn't make a fortune with a fiddle, br I scarce can sing a psalm-tune in a pew, br I couldn't lead a partner 'down the middle' br With a more than sporting chance of getting through.
