Felicia Dorothea Hemans - The Sun

Felicia Dorothea Hemans - The Sun

The sun comes forth; each mountain height br Glows with a tinge of rosy light, br And flowers, that slumbered through the night, br Their dewy leaves unfold; br A flood of splendor bursts on high, br And ocean's breast reflects a sky br Of crimson and of gold. br br Oh! thou art glorious, orb of day! br Exulting nations hail thy ray, br Creation swells a choral lay, br To welcome thy return; br From thee all nature draws her hues, br Thy beams the insect's wings suffuse, br And in the diamond burn. br br Yet must thou fade; when earth and heaven br By fire and tempest shall be riven, br Thou, from thy sphere of radiance driven, br Oh Sun! must fall at last; br Another heaven, another earth, br Far other glory shall have birth, br When all we see is past.
