Jane Taylor - Dirty Jim

Jane Taylor - Dirty Jim

THERE was one little Jim, br 'Tis reported of him, br And must be to his lasting disgrace, br That he never was seen br With hands at all clean, br Nor yet ever clean was his face. . . . br br His friends were much hurt br To see so much dirt, br And often they made him quite clean; br But all was in vain, br He got dirty again, br And not at all fit to be seen. br br It gave him no pain br To hear them complain, br Nor his own dirty clothes to survey: br His indolent mind br No pleasure could find br In tidy and wholesome array. br br The idle and bad, br Like this little lad, br May love dirty ways, to be sure; br But good boys are seen br To be decent and clean, br Although they are ever so poor.
