George MacDonald - Evening Hymn

George MacDonald - Evening Hymn

O God, whose daylight leadeth down br Into the sunless way, br Who with restoring sleep dost crown br The labour of the day! br br What I have done, Lord, make it clean br With thy forgiveness dear; br That so to-day what might have been, br To-morrow may appear. br br And when my thought is all astray, br Yet think thou on in me; br That with the new-born innocent day br My soul rise fresh and free. br br Nor let me wander all in vain br Through dreams that mock and flee; br But even in visions of the brain, br Go wandering toward thee.
