George MacDonald - Second Sight

George MacDonald - Second Sight

Rich is the fancy which can double back br All seeming forms, and from cold icicles br Build up high glittering palaces where dwells br Summer perfection, moulding all this wrack br To spirit symmetry, and doth not lack br The power to hear amidst the funeral bells br The eternal heart's wind-melody which swells br In whirlwind flashes all along its track! br So hath the sun made all the winter mine br With gardens springing round me fresh and fair; br On hidden leaves uncounted jewels shine; br I live with forms of beauty everywhere, br Peopling the crumbling waste and icy pool br With sights and sounds of life most beautiful.
