Ben Jonson - On Elizabeth L. H.

Ben Jonson - On Elizabeth L. H.

Epitaphs i br br WOULDST thou hear what Man can say br In a little? Reader, stay. br Underneath this stone doth lie br As much Beauty as could die: br Which in life did harbour give br To more Virtue than doth live. br If at all she had a fault, br Leave it buried in this vault. br One name was Elizabeth, br The other, let it sleep with death: br Fitter, where it died, to tell br Than that it lived at all. Farewell.
