William Watson - World Strangeness

William Watson - World Strangeness

Strange the world about me lies, br Never yet familiar grown- br Still disturbs me with surprise, br Haunts me like a face half known. br br In this house with starry dome, br Floored with gemlike plains and seas, br Shall I never feel at home, br Never wholly be at ease? br br On from room to room I stray, br Yet my Host can ne'er espy, br And I know not to this day br Whether guest or captive I. br br So, between the starry dome br And the floor of plains and seas, br I have never felt at home, br Never wholly been at ease.
