Arthur Symons - At Glan-y-Wern

Arthur Symons - At Glan-y-Wern

White-robed against the threefold white br Of shutter, glass and curtains' lace, br She flashed into the evening light br The brilliance of her gipsy face: br I saw the evening in her light. br br Clear, from the soft hair to the mouth, br Her ardent face made manifest br The sultry beauty of the South: br Below, a red rose, climbing, pressed br Against the roses of her mouth. br br So, in the window's threefold white, br O'ertrailed with foliage like a bower, br She seemed, against the evening light, br Amongst the flowers herself a flower, br A tiger-lily sheathed in white.
