Dante Gabriel Rossetti - A young Fir-Wood

Dante Gabriel Rossetti - A young Fir-Wood

THESE little firs to-day are things br To clasp into a giant's cap, br Or fans to suit his lady's lap. br From many winters many springs br Shall cherish them in strength and sap br Till they be marked upon the map, br A wood for the wind's wanderings. br All seed is in the sower's hands: br And what at first was trained to spread br Its shelter for some single head,— br Yea, even such fellowship of wands,— br May hide the sunset, and the shade br Of its great multitude be laid br Upon the earth and elder sands.
