Sydney Thompson Dobell - Poland - Italy - Hungary

In the great Darkness of the Passion, graves br Were oped, and many Saints which slept arose. br So in this latter Darkness, which doth close br Upon our noon. That Peace Divine which saves br And blesses, and from the celestial waves br Of whose now-parted garment our worst woes br Did touch a healing virtue, by our foes br Is crucified. The inextricable slaves br Have slain what should have set them free. Behold br The vail is rent! Earth yawns; the rocks are hurled br In twain; and Kingdoms long since low and cold, br Each with his dead forgotten brow enfurled br In that proud flag he fell upon of old, br Come forth into the City of the World.
