Muriel Stuart - Man and his Makers

Muriel Stuart - Man and his Makers

1. br I am one of the wind's stories, br I am a fancy of the rain,- br A memory of the high noon's glories, br The hint the sunset had of pain. br br 2. br They dreamed me as they dreamed all other; br Hawthorn and I, I and the grass, br With sister shade and phantom brother br Across their slumber glide and pass. br br 3. br Twilight is in my blood, my being br Mingles with trees and ferns and stones; br Thunder and stars my lips are freeing, br And there is sea-rack in my bones. br br 4. br Those that have dreamed me shall out-wake me, br But I go hence with flowers and weeds; br I am no more to those who make me br Than other drifting fruit and seeds. br br 5. br And though I love them -mourn to leave them- br Sea, earth and sunset, stars and streams, br My tears, my passing do not grieve them . . . br Other dreams have they, other dreams.
