William Cowper - Song. Written At The Request Of Lady Austen

William Cowper - Song. Written At The Request Of Lady Austen

When all within is peace, br How nature seems to smile; br Delights that never cease, br The live-long day beguile. br From morn to dewy eve, br With open hand she showers br Fresh blessings to deceive, br And soothe the silent hours. br br It is content of heart br Gives nature power to please; br The mind that feels no smart br Enlivens all it sees, br Can make a wintry sky br Seem bright as smiling May, br And evening's closing eye br As peep of early day. br br The vast majestic globe, br So beauteously arrayed br In nature's various robe, br With wondrous skill displayed, br Is to a mourner's heart br A dreary wild at best; br It flutters to depart, br And longs to be at rest.
