Harriet Monroe - In Tuolumne Meadows

Harriet Monroe - In Tuolumne Meadows

I Love to sit in the sun br And watch the foaming Lyell br Leap over its granite bed. br I love these days that run br On a burnished golden dial br With the blue sky overhead. br br I love to waken at night br And whisper the stars above me, br And feel the fingering breeze. br So still is the world, so right, br Where even the black pines love me, br And the white moon guards my ease. br br I love the upward ways br To the sun-tipped crest of the mountains br High over the billowy world; br Where the wind sings hymns of praise, br And the snows break into fountains, br And life is a flag unfurled.
