John Newton - The Believer's Safety (II)

John Newton - The Believer's Safety (II)

That man no guard or weapons needs, br Whose heart the blood of Jesus knows; br But safe may pass, if duty leads, br Through burning sands or mountain snows. br br Released from guilt he feels no fear, br Redemption is his shield and tow'r; br He sees his Saviour always near br To help, in every trying hour. br br Though I am weak and Satan strong, br And often to assault me tries; br When Jesus is my shield and song, br Abashed the wolf before me flies. br br His love possessing I am blest, br Secure whatever change may come; br Whether I go to East or West, br With him I still shall be at home. br br If placed beneath the northern pole, br Though winter reigns with rigor there; br His gracious beams would cheer my soul, br And make a spring throughout the year. br br Or if the deserts sun-burnt soil, br My lonely dwelling e'er should prove; br His presence would support my toil, br Whose smile is life, whose voice is love.
