John Newton - Paul's Voyage

John Newton - Paul's Voyage

If Paul in Caesar's court must stand, br He need not fear the sea; br Secured from harm, on every hand, br By the divine decree. br br Although the ship, in which he sailed, br By dreadful storms was tossed; br The promise over all prevailed, br And not a life was lost. br br Jesus! the God whom Paul adored, br Who saves in time of need; br Was then confessed, by all on board, br A present help indeed! br br Though neither sun nor stars were seen br Paul knew the Lord was near; br And faith preserved his soul serene, br When others shook for fear. br br Believers thus are tossed about br On life's tempestuous main; br But grace assures, beyond a doubt, br They shall their port attain. br br They must, they shall appear one day, br Before their Saviour's throne; br The storms they meet with by the way, br But make his power known. br br Their passage lies across the brink br Of many a threat'ning wave; br The world expects to see them sink, br But Jesus lives to save. br br Lord, though we are but feeble worms, br Yet since thy word is past; br We'll venture through a thousand storms, br To see thy face at last.
