John Newton - Ask What I Shall Give Thee (III)

John Newton - Ask What I Shall Give Thee (III)

Behold the throne of grace! br The promise calls me near; br There Jesus shows a smiling face, br And waits to answer prayer. br br That rich atoning blood, br Which sprinkled round I see; br Provides for those who come to God, br An all-prevailing plea. br br My soul ask what thou wilt, br Thou canst not be too bold; br Since his own blood for thee he spilt, br What else can he withhold. br br Beyond thy utmost wants br His love and pow'r can bless; br To praying souls he always grants, br More than they can express. br br Since 'tis the Lord's command, br My mouth I open wide; br Lord open thou thy bounteous hand, br That I may be supplied. br br Thine image, Lord, bestow, br Thy presence and thy love; br I ask to serve thee here below, br And reign with thee above. br br Teach me to live by faith, br Conform my will to thine; br Let me victorious be in death, br And then in glory shine. br br If Thou these blessings give, br And wilt my portion be; br Cheerful the world's poor toys I leave, br To them who know not thee.
